Pa'lante

What and Why? PA'LANTE is a group of Latin American immigrant teens dedicated to helping the Hispanic community in Orange County, NC. Most of us are students at the high schools in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. We produce Spanish language media that allows us to express ourselves and helps Latin American immigrant families learn about our community with useful information about education, health and recreational opportunities.

LAUREN BRENNER is the director. You can reach Lauren at 619-1023 or director AT palanteprogram.org

Read a fact sheet about Radio Pa'lante's history, purpose and management. Pa'lante is a non-profit. That means that Pa'lante exists for the community and through the generosity and energy of the community. We attempt to promote integration among the Latin American immigrant community and the established community in Orange County, North Carolina. We also encourage teens to complete high school.

The way in which we do this is by training teens to create mass communication, such as magazines and radio programs, that provide opportunities for expression for members of the community and also orient them to their new home.We invite everyone to participate.

The word "Pa'lante" is a slang contraction of the words "para adelante." It means "Let's roll!" Together, LET'S ROLL!
